The short answer
Choose mymind if you want a private place to save broadly and let the product remove as much manual organization as possible. Choose Dekkit if you want to decide how sources relate, preserve project context and reuse the same material across several visual workspaces.
The products share an important premise: useful material is more than a browser bookmark. Both can hold visual references and make them easier to rediscover. Their philosophies diverge after capture. mymind describes itself as a private extension of your mind and emphasizes “save now, find later”: it analyzes saved content, recognizes text in images and uses AI to classify it without requiring a traditional folder system. Smart Spaces provide rule-based views when you need more focus.
Dekkit makes the organizing model visible. A source becomes a Card with a thumbnail, link or file and your context. Cards collect in Decks, related Decks sit in Collections, and Cards can be arranged on multiple Boards without creating disconnected copies. The aim is not only to remember an item, but to turn selected evidence into a point of view, project direction or shared research map.
Automatic recall versus deliberate structure
mymind is attractive when classification feels like overhead. Search, colors, detected text and AI-generated associations help you recover an item even when you did not carefully label it. That makes the product especially suited to personal memory, reading and low-maintenance collecting.
Dekkit asks for more intent when that intent adds value. A Deck can represent a stable subject, while a Board becomes a separate synthesis layer where proximity, grouping and sequence communicate relationships. The distinction matters when one reference informs several projects: the same Card can support a typography study, a campaign concept and a competitor map while keeping one source trail.
Privacy, collaboration and AI
mymind is explicitly personal and private: its official material says saved content is for your eyes only, with no social features or advertising. Dekkit is also useful as a private library, but adds controlled sharing and collaborative Boards for work that must move beyond one person. Neither approach is universally better. A private thinking space has less coordination overhead; a shared research space avoids rebuilding context during handoff.
AI also plays a different role. In mymind it reduces filing and supports recall. In Dekkit it can enrich supported Cards with descriptions, tags and extracted context while the user retains an explicit organizational system. If client or confidential material is involved, review the current privacy terms and workspace permissions before uploading it to either service.
Pricing and who should choose each
mymind lists Bookmarker at $4.99/month, Student of Life at $7.99/month or $79/year, and Mastermind at $12.99/month or $129/year. Higher tiers add capabilities such as focused reading, article archiving, video support and AI summaries. Dekkit offers a free Starter plan, with Basic from $3.99/month and higher levels for more capacity, Boards and advanced AI.
Choose mymind for a calm, private memory that does much of the classification for you. Choose Dekkit when the organization itself is part of the thinking: you want named source sets, reusable visual objects and Boards that explain how the evidence connects.
