One library, several capture moments

Ideas rarely arrive while you are sitting in front of the “right” app. A useful page appears in the browser, a photo arrives on your phone, a PDF sits on the desktop and a thought comes while moving between them. The system only works when capture is quicker than postponing it.

Dekkit gives these different inputs one shared object: the Card. A Card always has a visual thumbnail and can retain the link, image, file or note that created it. New Cards can land in an inbox, move into Decks, join broader Collections and be reused on Boards where the relationship between ideas becomes visible.

Capture less information, but the right information

During capture, add only what you know: a meaningful title and one sentence explaining why the item deserves attention. Do not stop to design the final taxonomy. On browser extensions, save the page or image while the source is open. On mobile, use the operating system’s share action. On desktop, bring in local material when the file itself is the evidence.

Then process the inbox at a predictable time. Remove accidental saves, add missing context, choose a Deck and apply only tags you expect to search. If the Card contributes to an active decision, place it on the relevant Board; if it is simply promising, leave it in the source Deck until a real use emerges.

Design for recovery, not perfect filing

The purpose of organization is to recover an idea when it matters. Searchable titles, preserved sources and concise notes are more valuable than a deep hierarchy nobody remembers. A weekly fifteen-minute review is usually enough: clear the inbox, connect the best Cards to active work and archive stale material.

Cross-device capture should feel like one continuous habit, not three separate libraries. The payoff is not merely a cleaner archive—it is the ability to move from “I saw something about this” to the exact source, your earlier interpretation and the project where it belongs.

Recommended workflow

  1. Browser: save the source

Capture pages and images while their context is still visible. Add a short reason before the tab disappears.

  2. Mobile: use the share action

Send useful links and media to the same inbox. Keep capture quick enough to use in real life.

  3. Desktop: include working files

Save local material when the file itself matters, keeping it beside related web references and notes.

  4. Review: route and reuse

Process the inbox on a schedule, move Cards into Decks and place decision-worthy items on Boards.
